About Us

The Australian Embassy in Vienna and Permanent Mission to the UN is accredited to Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Kosovo, Slovakia, Slovenia, and to the International Organisations in Vienna.    

 

The Australian Embassy is closed on Friday 24 October

Australian citizens and Australian Permanent Residents who require urgent consular assistance after hours or when the Embassy is closed should contact the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s 24-hour Consular Emergency Centre (CEC) in Canberra – Telephone: +61 1300 555 135 or 0 800 29 18 47 (local call from within Austria). The call will begin with "Smart Traveller" information, please wait to be connected to a Consular Officer. The CEC can also be contacted from in Australia on 1300 555 135 (toll free).

Please do not use these numbers for visa and immigration enquiries, or any routine passport and notarial matters.

Head of Mission

Ambassador David Stuart commenced his appointment in September 2012. Mr David Stuart is the Australian Ambassador to Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary, Kosovo, the Slovak Republic, and Slovenia. Mr Stuart is Australia’s Resident Representative and Governor on the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and Australia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna, as well as Australia’s Permanent Representative to the Comprehensive Test Ban Treat (CTBTO) Preparatory Commission.
