Migration Agents
A migration agent is someone who can assist you to lodge a visa application and communicate with Australia’s Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) on your behalf, usually for a fee.
You do not need to use a migration agent to lodge a visa application. A migration agent cannot influence nor predetermine the outcome of your application, nor can they fast-track its processing. If you wish to engage a migration agent, DIAC recommends using an agent registered with the Office of the MARA, or where this is not possible, one that is accredited in your country.
In Australia, migration agents must be registered with the Migration Agents Registration Authority (MARA). A list of agents registered in Australia is available at the MARA website. See: www.themara.com.au.
Before engaging a migration agent outside Australia, we recommend you read the following information.
See: Information about migration agents operating outside Australia
More general information about using a migration agent is also available at the DIAC website.
